Khalifa University was honored to host a research seminar titled “Computationally Designed 3D Printed Patient-Specific Implants for Orthopedic Applications,” presented by Dr. Ali Kiapour, Director of Biomechanics Research at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. The seminar focused on the use of computational modeling and 3D printing technologies to design orthopedic implants tailored to the unique anatomy and loading patterns of individual patients. These patient-specific implants are engineered to optimize post-implantation response, improving both functionality and recovery outcomes.
The discussion delved into how computationally designed implants are developed and validated, as well as their application in clinical settings. The seminar provided attendees with valuable insights into the integration of engineering, biomechanics, and medical innovation.
